Difficult Participants

Types of Difficult Participants:

The Class Clown
The Debater
The Prisoner
The Vacationer
The Good Student
The Know-It-All
The Socializer
The Big Mouth
Captain Random

Today I had my team of Trainers each prepare a 5 minute training and then each trainer was assigned a Difficult Participant Role to play during the presentation. It was a lot of fun to watch and to see how annoying a difficult participant really can be. Of course, this played out as a worst case senario becuase all the trainers took their role VERY serious. Over the next month or so, I plan on having additional discussions on how to deal with some of these common participants.

Untill then, if you need an exciting activity for a Friday night, get a group together and do some role playing with Difficult Participants.

Have a Great Day!

SMART Goals

This month I had the opportunity to put together a training on SMART Goals. I had about 90 people attend two different sessions. There were a number of things that went really well including:
-My room set up aided in the delivery of the training.
-My technology was right on, with no problems.
-I had music before the session, during a break out, and again at the end.
-I had great class interaction.
-Candy sure helps get people to participate.
-I was very prepared for each session.

One other thing that really helps me be successful is the Feedback Sessions. When I have other presenters attend, I always solicit their thoughts for improvement and ways to make the session better. I made adjustments after the first session in preparation for the next session and it made a world of difference.

Closing thought for today. Seek out honest, candid, and construtive feedback. Feedback is the lifeblood of growth.

Presenting In Front of a Group

Presenting in front of a group is one of the most feared things, even more than death! This blog is to help the inexperienced as well as the professional.

The thought for today when it comes to presenting is PREPARATION! The more prepared you are the more confident and comfortable you will be. When it comes to preparing, make sure you have all your bases covered.

That is all for today. Come again for more on presenting in front of a group.
